First Thessalonians is perhaps best known for discussing the second coming of Jesus. Yet, it also covers a wide range of other important themes intended to encourage holiness and love as we await that day.  Dr. Schreiner, New Testament professor at Southern Seminary writes, “One of the striking features upon reading the Thessalonian letters is the tremendous optimism that permeates them.” This is one of the reasons we selected to begin our new year studying such a powerful and rich Pauline letter.
